WeddingsLatest news May 2008: Both of Tessa’s wedding images she entered to a prestigious PX3 Prix De La Photographie Paris competition have been awarded Honorable Mention. You can view the images at wedding portfolio section. There are always two of us together photographing the weddings. This enables us to be in different locations throughout your wedding. Our photography is a blend of editorial reportage with a twist of art. We capture the moments as they arrive and build the narrative of your day. We work fully digitally. As early adopters of digital photography, we have years of up-to-date experience of best practice, from digital capture through image process, to print output and storage requirements. We come prepared - we carry our portable studio lights with us just in case the weather is not co-operating. We even take safety pins and local taxi numbers with us. We are fully insured for public liability and professional indemnity. We have years of experience as professional photographers. Alongside the weddings, both of us are commissioned to photograph various types of events, and working as consultants within the photographic and design industries. Our influences in photography vary from Doisneau, Salgado and Cartier-Bresson to Koudelka and Kander’s experiments – very much documentary photography topped with older and contemporary art. FamilyNatural portraits of families.

EditorialThis is a short portfolio into my work. I’m a freelance photographer based in London. My style of photography is very much documentary with a twist of art. My commissions have included feature stories for a volume of European magazines, editorial work for various newspapers, documentary work for opera companies such as the Royal Opera House, corporate portraits, PR and events. Gallery 1 contains editorial portraits from various events. Gallery 2 shows dance and opera productions rehearsals and workshops, from 1998 onwards. Gallery 3 has evening and night photography. Gallery 4 features my personal project, images of children in Uganda 2002, with thanks to Uganda Society of Disabled Children.

Personal

Fine artI have had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Finland and in the UK since 1995. The images featured in gallery 1 are from the body of work called ‘viulu’ – portraits of a violin. These images have been on show since their creation in 2000; at the Horniman Museum, London, the Victor Barsokevitsch Photographic Gallery in Kuopio, Finland, and as part of the Canterbury Festival at the Marlowe Theatre.

We have years of experience as professional photographers. My commissions ranges from feature stories for European newspapers and magazines, to corporate portraits, PR, events and private commissions. Although we work fully digitally, we both have a strong darkroom knowledge behind us, both from colour and black&white. My professional career began in 1998, after graduating from the BA (Hons) Photography in the Arts course at Swansea University. I also studied MA at University of Westminster's Photographic Studies course in 2004. I was awarded an ABPPA by the British Professional Photographer’s Association in 2004.I have had numerous solo and group exhibitions in the UK and Finland (where I come from) since 1995. My art work has been part of i.e. the Association of Photographer’s Open Competition and the Victor Barsokevitsch Photographic Gallery in Kuopio, Finland. Richard has a long history of working within the photographic industry, both within management, and as a photographer. His client list has included some of the UK’s strongest brands, including Vogue, Sainsbury’s, Austin Reed and Vodafone. Currently he’s working as Digital and Colour Consultant in Photofusion.org. He was also a guest speaker for this year’s Rhubarb-Rhubarb event at the LCC. Tessa Oksanen April 2008.
